You must go on the ship for awhile and then have some time back home and then go back on the ship? Then whatever else they need-invitations to cocktail parties, notices about what paperwork they need to get off in certain countries, fliers for sales in shops, all sorts of different stuff. I print newspapers from all different parts of the world-thousands of those. I print thousands of menus for lunch and dinner. It tells them all of the things that are going on-what time we’re getting into port, what time all the shows and events are. I don’t know if you’ve ever been on a cruise, but all the guests get what we call a galley program. So I’m the guy that’s lying underneath the printer with a flashlight and a screwdriver. If we’re in the middle of the ocean and something breaks down, we have to fix it as fast as possible or we start losing money. So I deal with all the customers and do all the paperwork and everything, but I also maintain all the equipment. I’m in charge of pretty much all the printing that goes on on board the cruise ship. So I’m the Digital Print Shop Manager (my title), but on the cruise ship they just call me the Chief Printer. When I got out of college, I got an offer from this British printing company to run their print operations on cruise ships.
I have a mechanical-engineering degree, but in college I did an internship with a printing company and I designed printers on an engineering team. What’s the story with the cruise ship? You work on one?
